Welcome to Your New Wiki!

This semester your teams will be using this Wiki to collaborate online. For the past four years, Educational Leadership classes have used a Wiki for organizing and communicating. It has been extremely successful. To use the basics, it is very simple, and a lot like Microsoft Word. To learn how to use the Wiki, the best way is to click on the Help menu and then watch the video tutorials. They are very short, but are well done. Also, below, I provide all of the basics that you need to make links, add pages, add attachments, etc. This Wiki will permit us to do things collaboratively that Angel or just using MS Word will not allow. We can edit a document collaboratively, make comments about it, provide a list of references, and create new pages. Here are cool features: 1. In the tabs above, you can set up a discussion board, just like in Angel. 2. You can change and edit any page that is submitted by anyone else, but the great feature in the HISTORY tab above, is that you can see all previous entries, so you never lose anything. 3. Just like in Microsoft Word, you can cut and paste anything into any page in this Wiki.

To get started:

Register with www.wikispaces.com. Before you can edit anything in the Wiki, I will need to approve your membership. This will take about 24 hours, so do this soon.

To Edit Pages:

Click on the EDIT Tab at the far right at the top. Now you can edit the document just like in Word. Look at the edit bar at the top after you click on EDIT. You will notice some similar icons as in Word. When you are finished editing, just click on SAVE at the top or bottom of the page.

‍To Add Links:

You can add links by simply typing them in such as: http://www.fgcu.edu Be sure to include the http://

‍To Create New Page and a Link to that page:

To create a link click on the link icon and then fill in the form that pops up. The first name you type in is the name of the link that will appear on this page. If you are creating a link to a new page, In the last section click on the dropdown menu and select "Enter a Page Name" and give it a "link name" which can be a more explanatory name. This will be listed in a drop down list to use again on another page if you wish. If you are not making a link to a new page, but you with to create a link to an existing page, you can choose to link to an already existing page by selecting that page name.

‍To Creat a New Page Whose Name Appears at the Left Window:

To do this, simply click on NEW PAGE at the top left, and then any content you want. You can cut an paste from any document.

‍How to Upload files:

To upload a file, click on Insert Images or Files icon (the icon that looks like a picture), where you can then select files and pictures etc to place on your Wiki page.
